Cybersecurity accountability coaching that helps you finish what you started.
Weekly check-ins, readiness reviews, and a study plan built around your real life, for the certification or career goal you're working toward.
Built for cert prep, not limited to it. Bring any syllabus, course, or skill goal, including self-paced courses with no exam, and we build the accountability plan around it.
Coached by people who actually sat these exams, failed a few, and came back, not a chatbot.
How this works
Most people already picture what tutoring or a course looks like. Accountability coaching is less familiar, so here's what the working relationship actually looks like week to week:
The short version of the method: study in small steps, test yourself instead of rereading, write a few honest lines after each session, and keep showing up. There's real learning science under each of those, and a person making sure you actually run it. See the science behind it →
Intake
We get clear on your goals, your real schedule, and what's derailed you before.
Plan
Your intake and a short skills pre-assessment feed a model that drafts a personalized path, which a coach then refines with you against the hours you actually have.
Check-ins
Weekly, or as often as you want, to keep momentum and catch a slip early.
Adjustments
We track your study logs, so when the week falls apart (a 7am soccer game eats your study block), the slip shows up fast and we re-cut the plan instead of letting it quietly fall apart.
Readiness review
An honest call on whether you're actually prepared, before you book the exam.
We're a small team, just getting started, and small on purpose. Between us we've done the work across penetration testing, web application security, and blue-team defense, and earned and coached toward the certifications in those areas.
We've sat the hard exams, missed a couple, rewritten the report at 2am, and come back. The lesson that stuck: the material is rarely what beats people. Staying consistent when work, family, and life all pull at once is the real fight, so that's the part we built ForgeHorizon to handle.
Hands-on backgrounds across offensive, web, and defensive security, plus years building and quality-checking professional security training.
We are advocates for you, the learner, first and always. Not the certification vendor, not a course we're trying to upsell. Our only job is your progress: we give you straight answers, protect your time when life crowds in, and stay in your corner until you finish. You are the person we work for.
And the most valuable thing we build with you isn't cert-specific. It's the part no course teaches: how to manage your time, take notes that stick, study so it lasts, and keep going when it gets hard. We make you a better learner. That outlasts any single certification.
Progress comes from showing up consistently, not from a perfect plan, so that's what we help with. Use the tools and resources that work for you, ignore the rest. Our job is to make the work feel lighter.
Most people don't fail cert prep because they're lazy. They fail because their plan was built for an imaginary person with unlimited evenings, no on-call week, and no kids. We build the plan around your actual life, then make sure you keep showing up for it.
What we do, and what we don't
What we do
- Check-ins on your cadence (daily, weekly, your call) with a real partner who knows your goals
- Study plans built from your cert's syllabus and your real hours
- Any syllabus works, not just named certs, including self-paced courses with no exam (Sektor7, MalDev Academy, internal training); drop in the outline and we build the plan around it
- Honest feedback on your methodology, notes, and reports
- A straight readiness call before you book the exam
- Your study logs watched for drift, so a real coach reaches out before a slow week becomes a stalled month
- A real person who already knows your situation, not a support queue, with replies in hours to a day, not next week
What we don't
- No exam dumps, walkthroughs, or answers handed to you
- We don't resell third-party course content or labs
- No "you'll pass, guaranteed", nobody honest can promise that
- No AI pretending to be your mentor
- No guilt-trip emails three weeks after you went quiet
Who this is for
It works best if you've got the drive but keep losing the thread:
A good fit
- Working professionals studying around a full-time job
- Parents fitting labs in after the kids are down
- Career changers who need structure, not just more videos
- Anyone coming back from a failed attempt
- Self-studiers who start strong and stall by week four
Probably not for you
- You want someone to hand you the answers
- You're looking for a shortcut around the actual reps
- You want a content library and nothing else
Where it usually slips
This is built for overcommitted professionals: a full-time job, a family, a stack of unfinished courses, a cert you keep meaning to get back to. In our experience, it tends to come apart at moments like these:
"Tomorrow I'll start."
"Maybe I'm not cut out for this."
"I'll just study next week."
"Should I postpone again?"
An example check-in
Not a dashboard ping. A short, honest review with your partner, as often as you want one, daily or weekly: what moved, what didn't, and what we change because of it.
Goal: OSCP attempt in 9 weeks
Wins
- Completed the Active Directory module labs
- Submitted two practice reports
Obstacles
- Missed three study sessions due to work travel
Adjustment
- Reduced weekly target from 20 to 15 hours
- Added a protected Saturday-morning study block
Confidence: Moderate. Not exam-ready yet, and that's normal for week 3.
Drift check: 3 sessions missed (work travel). Target adjusted 20 → 15h, partner notified.
What "ready" actually means
Before we tell anyone to book the exam, we go through a written checklist together. No vibes, no "you'll be fine." Here's a slimmed-down example for an OSCP candidate:
- Rooted 30+ practice boxes across the exam's common themes
- Worked a full Active Directory chain end to end, unaided
- Can write a report a stranger could follow to reproduce the box
- Still shaky chaining the Active Directory set under time pressure
- Hasn't yet finished a timed practice run without burning out
Where we landed: close, but not this month. Two things to shore up first, then we book.
We've been there.
The problem usually isn't more material to study. It's another half-finished course, another notebook, another Discord server you went quiet in. What's missing is a system that helps you actually finish what you started, that keeps you showing up when work gets busy, motivation fades, and life gets in the way.
- We've studied on our lunch breaks.
- We've reviewed flashcards in the parking lot before football practice.
- We've squeezed in labs after the kids were finally asleep.
- We've questioned whether we were ready.
- We've stared at the calendar wondering if we should postpone the exam.
- We've had to start over after losing momentum.
If any of that hit close to home, you're probably who we built this for. We're not here to read your exam objectives back to you. We're here because we remember how it feels to keep going when quitting would be easier.
The specific certification may be different. The journey rarely is.
We guide you through the material, we don't hand you answers.
We can't reproduce a vendor's paid course, and we won't give you dumps or walkthroughs. We also publish our own course on building a repeatable pentest methodology, the meta-skill that outlasts any single exam, separate from coaching. For everything else, we guide you through what you're studying: point you to the resources worth your time (HackTricks, the right practice boxes, the vendor's own docs), build and explain cheatsheets for the parts that trip everyone up, and stay in your corner when a concept won't click. We lean on encouragement over red ink, because that, more than another PDF, is what gets people to exam day.
Where we can help
We coach in the areas we've actually worked in, not a catalog we cloned:
We work from each certification's public objectives. ForgeHorizon Learning is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by any certification body.

Straight answers
Do you teach your own courses?
We offer a free note-taking course, with more hands-on courses on the way, ones that help you become a better learner, the kind where you build your own lab and really learn how things work. Beyond that, we're a coaching service: for the external certifications you're chasing, we don't provide outside course content, labs, or answers, we coach you through those.
What if I fall behind?
Your partner calls it out, directly. That's the entire point. You'll hear it early, with a concrete plan to get back on track, not a guilt trip three weeks later.
Do you guarantee I'll pass?
No one honest can. We guarantee structure, rigor, and an honest readiness call before you book, so you sit the exam ready, not hopeful.
Who are the partners?
Cybersecurity people who know the grind firsthand and have earned certifications from reputable organizations. They may not hold the exact cert you're chasing, and they don't need to. They work from its syllabus and hold you accountable to it. The value isn't a badge they own; it's that they keep you consistent, honest, and moving.
Six months from now
You'll either still be telling yourself you need to get back to studying, or you'll be most of the way there: consistent, on a plan, closing the gap to exam day. The intake form takes a few minutes and costs nothing.
